Activity manager seems to be deleting some of my emails :-( How can I stop this? I'm not terribly computer literate, so a step by step explanation would be most helpful!

if you account is IMAP, that is synchronized to the mail server. What is in Thunderbird will exactly mirror what is on the server. If your provider say empties you trash for you each week, then those mails will show as deleted in the activity manager. IF you provider deletes old spam, then Thunderbird will also. If you delete the mail from your phone and that is reflected on the sever, then your mail will be deleted in Thunderbird,
