Good Day, We really like FireFox, after using it over recent years. However, this year it appears to be numerous problems. We do not load many thing on our computers, because the computer is there for our work not games or other uses. Our downloads are kept to a minimum, we use virus protection, and scan regularly enough.

FF freezes, too slow, and too regularly reminding of updates. So we dismiss, to avoid work disruption. So now when we do update, we are losing saved passwords, looks so it is not apparent which browser is up, and it is getting uncomfortable to use.

What happened this year?

hi xcorp1,

Try Refreshing your Browser:-

  • To do this, click the menu button at the top right corner of the Firefox window.
  • Click the “Help” option near the bottom of the menu.
  • Click the “Troubleshooting Information” option in the Help menu.
  • Click the “Refresh Firefox” button at the top right corner of the Troubleshooting Information page.
  • You’ll be warned that this will remove your browser add-ons, reset your customizations, and revert other browser data to the default settings. Click “Refresh Firefox” to confirm you want to make these changes.

Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles {web link} I use a Legacy add-on that makes backups of my user profile, Just In Case. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with the current Firefox.

Every now and then, open the profile folder and create a copy of the current profile as is to another location on your hard drive. This way you will have a backup.

If you do this each day, you will not lose much data. This should be done with Firefox Closed.

Note: In case you need to restore from these backups, you may need to overwrite old or corrupted files.

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
