adding GMAIL account

Am having a strange issue with adding a GMAIL account.

I had some issues with my account, and removed all email accounts from thunderbird, and moved the profiles to a separate hard drive, in order to keep space on my normally used hard drive.

I go to add my GMAIL account, enter the password, etc, then click on "done" as all the details are pulling through

Then thunderbird opens a new window with gmail confirmation in it, but as soon as I click next/ok there, I get error 500, that's all we know.

I thought at first, it was a gmail error, but I can easily add gmail to outlook, so assume it's a error/old date in thunderbird that's causing the issue.

Any thoughts on the issue?

"500. That’s an error.

There was an error. Please try again later. That’s all we know."

Thanks, but it was already checked to accept all cookies. I cleared out any that was there and tried again, but no joy.

thanks for the input though.

Hello,

Please try setting general.useragent.compatMode.firefox to true so that google thinks you are using a modern build of Firefox.

WARNING from the moderator team: Changing Thunder pref from the about:config page can sometimes break Thunderbird or cause strange behavior. You should only do this if you know what you're doing.

Please read Config Editor to learn more and for instructions on how to access this page.

It does make a change, but I get a "400" error now. I also noted that the browser showed up as blank on the top.

Thanks for your input though.

Even though there are special cases where this can help, it is not needed to get going with OAuth2. So I'd reset it to the original user agent value.

What is your anti-virus/security software?

What version of Thunderbird are you running?
