FireFox 102.1 - ZIP or application/setup downloads show as extension 'file" and can't be opened.

After being updated to FireFox release 102.1, any zipped or setup (execution) files show as 'file' extension and will not open or execute.

Can you please advise me on how to fix? I tried using a different browser for same download, and it works fine (leaves the extension as application or exe or zip). FireFox is defined as the default browser - Windows 10.

Thanks!

I am a bit new to this type of issue, but you can try re-downloading Firefox? See whether or not that helps... I am on 102.1 and it seems to work just fine for me.

Can you provide an example file you had issues with? What security software are you running? Have you tried the process with Firefox in Safe Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-4troubleshoot-modesf5safe-modesf

So you are not seeing the .exe at the end of the file? see screenshot Show us what you are seeing.

If it's an extension, change .zip to .xpi and you will be able to install it.
