I awoke this am to find my firefox unable to attach to the juniper networks vpn for my company. I would see a java error popup on the screen and then firefox 3.6.10 would close. I went to java.com to verify that I had java installed and when clicking on the link called "verify java" firefox would close again.

so i unistalled firefox along with the preferences and then rebooted the computer.

used chrome to download and install firefox. went to java.com and clicked on verify once more and firefox 3.6.10 closed again

I went to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components and could not find nsBrowserOpt.dll

Your plugins list doesn't show the Java plugin.

In Firefox 3.6 and later versions you need the Next-Generation Java™ Plug-In present in Java 6 U10 and later (Linux: libnpjp2.so; Windows: npjp2.dll).

You can try to change some Java settings in the Java Control Center:
Control Panel > Java > General tab > "Network Settings...": "Direct Connection" (enable)

You can disable the Java Quick Starter extension.
