That issue can be caused by corrupted cookies.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

I followed the instructions but problem was not resolved.

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Does it work if you temporarily switch to Private Browsing mode?

Clearly there is another problem. I came to this post because I am facing the same problem. I attempt to sign in to Yahoo Mail but clicking "Sign In" does not do the job. When I double click "Sign In" this seems to highlight the yahoo footnote copyright remarks "Copyright © 2012 Yahoo! Inc. All rights reserved" and (other contents in the footnote).

Pressing enter while in username or password field would automatically defaults to signing in and indeed does the job, but clicking it won't do it.

I did follow cor-el suggestions regarding "Private Browsing" and no it did not work either.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

My problem seems to have been resolved on its own.I tried all the steps mentioned above but they did not work out.But I am able to login to my yahoo mail account account now with out any problem. So may be the website had some issues on fire fox which were sorted out on their own.
