repeat entires on newtab page

when using the newtab page, over half of the entries shown are for different pages of the same site. the issue is mainly with forums and games that i heavily frequent. individually removing the entires usually just replaces them with other pages from the same site. and i don't want to have to pin all the entries.

is there anyway to limit the newtab page to one entry per domain or even exclude a domain from showing?

Not that I know of.
You could clear the history and remove the visited pages from that site to reset the visit count and prevent the pages from showing up.
You may need to close and restart Firefox to see the changes.
