'save image as' is still second guess, which is about 99.99% wrong. How do I get rid of this option?!

The 'save image as' option keeps going back to the previous folder 5 times before it takes the current folder. This is the worst option ever. I have reinstalled Firefox, but this did not fix it.

Hi rolfman7, is the problem where Firefox wants to save downloads -- it doesn't suggest the folder you want to use? You have a couple of different options:

(1) No prompt -- automatically save to one location
(Options > General > Save files to...)

(2) Prompt and show the last location
(Options > General > Always ask me where to save)

(a) Show the last location used to save from that particular site
(b) Show the last location used to save from any site, or at startup, show the default location

To change from (2)(a) to (2)(b), you can set a preference as described in this thread: Save Image As goes back to the same place even after re-boot.

If that isn't what you meant, could you describe your request in more detail?

Current Firefox versions remember the download directory based upon the URL, so if the URL changes then the default folder may be chosen if there hasn't been selected a download folder before for that server.

You can disable this feature to remember the download directory via the Boolean pref browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite on the about:config page. The browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite pref doesn't exist by default (it is a hidden pref), so you need to create it.

Create a new Boolean pref with the name browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite and set the value to false.

You may have to clear the "Site Preferences" via Clear Recent History to remove already stored data.

I created the 'browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite, changed the value to 'false' and the same thing happens. I also tried in the General Options using both the 'save files to' and the 'always ask me where to save files' and the same thing happens. I cannot accept it being any server, since this does not happen while using Chrome or Internet Explorer. What is happening is: save the image to folder A. When I try to save image to folder B, it takes me back to folder A about 5 times before it accepts folder B. Then when I want to save image to folder C, it takes another 5 times going to folder B before it accepts folder C.
