New computer with Windows 7 Installed Firefox 14 ver 1.0 crashes or freezes frequently

I have been having hangs, Freeze ups and crashes which are way too frequent to not be some sort of bug. Based on my observation, I think it is related to Flash in some way. Heavy restart crashes are at websites which have lots of Flash items on those pages. However, not all crashes or freezes are caused by flash as I have had a crash and long term freeze at a very basic website that was pretty much nothing but text. Freeze ups are 1 to 6 minutes. Most of the time, after a freeze up I get a crash notice and button asking me to send a crash report which I always do. But the frequency of these issues is getting worse and the length of time of the freeze up or crash period where I can not click on anything or try to get back to desktop is getting longer. Need work around or something as this issue is getting out of hand.

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox location bar (that's where you enter your website names) and press Enter. You should now see a list of submitted crash reports.
  2. Copy the most recent 5 report IDs that you see in the crash report window and paste them into your forum response.

Thanks in advance for your help!

More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.

I'm replying to this as well because I'm having this issues as well, except mine happen with huge frequency (several time a work day so sort of thing)

FFatwork,

I never had any problems with FF until I got the new computer with Win 7 64 bit. Even though it is a pain in the butt right now, it is by far much better than IE, Chrome or Safari and the add on tools I use are generally not found in others. The problem in my book is a glitch in version 14.1.0 that needs to be patched. Considering the sheer number of people having this problem and the frequency is my bet. Who knows though it could be an unknown conflict that was exposed in version 14.

Pablo, I'm running it on a 32-bit win7 enterprise computer and a 64-bit win7 professional computer and I've got issues one both :\ fortunately the desktop is better able to handle it (64bit) due to much beefier hardware

so, uh any possible updates coming down the line from someone in the know?

One thing is certain, it is not a simple fix. I am thinking it will take a bit of time for them to do the patch.

Freezing on websites and whenever I try to use email...off and on.

Ok. I did a force update with Firefox and went through the selections to kill IE and make sure all IE items are dead. It has helped the problem but not resolve it completely. Instead of the problem happening every few minutes, it now happens just a couple times a day which I can live with. Not sure if this solution would help everyone else who has this issue. I am thinking that this problem is caused by Microsoft itself as it tries to force people to use IE. I also note that when I do visit a Microsoft website that you have to use IE, this problem with Fire Fox gets worse.
