Flash Player is on the bad list for version 17.0 firefox. Therefor it can't be installed. I get missing plugin screen or simply nothing when I click on videos on websites. Is there another plugin that can take Flash Player's place?

Chosen solution

For what it is worth, I could not get videos to work on FF 17.01. I also tried re-installation and updates to get Adobe FlashPlayer plugins to work, but without success. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The missing plugin method sometimes flops. Try downloading the installer directly from Adobe's site and running it from your downloads folder. Make sure to uncheck any wanted extras that Adobe offers with the download. You may need to restart Firefox in order for Flash to show up.

I've tried that and it works for other browsers and applications. But Firefox 17.0 has it on the block list. This is a list of plugins that Firefox 17.0 compromises its security and will not install/use them.

Thank you for you prompt effort on my behalf

"Shockwave Flash 11.5.502.110" is not blocked for me on Firefox 17 (on Windows 7). Have you tried that one?

My blocklist.xml file does list Flash 11.4.402 as a blocked version.

Using Windows Vista 32 bit, Service Pack 2, I found that the combination of Firefox 16.02 and Adobe Flash Player 11.5.502.110 crashed repeatedly - when using for instance YouTube . Upgrading to Firefox 17 appears to have solved the problem.

Unfortunately the block list I have for V17.0 will not allow me to do that.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

DickDelt, are you using a custom blocklist? the built in blocklist allows you to use the latest Flash, so you must have something cutom

Until I had this problem I didn't know that a block list existed. Do you know how to replace the one I have with the standard one.

Thank you for your prompt and on the mark answer.

Sounds like the right to do. I am now using Firefox 18.0 and the problems with flash and shockwave flash appear to have disappeared

I have been having this problem off and on for months with successive Firefox and Flash updates and couldn't noodle it out until...I removed AddBlock Plus and the problem went away. I tried two other "ad blocking" Firefox addons (separately of course) and the same problem cropped up with both. I uninstalled and good to go again.

The thing I find is that with each addon installation I had the Easy List filter activated. I reinstalled AdBlock Plus and did NOT add the Easy List filter and...problem gone.

Hope this helps.
