Center clicking on laptop is not opening links in new tabs...?
I have a Dell laptop that's approximately 4 years old. About 2-3 months ago I noticed that when I click in the center of my buttons Firefox will no longer open links in new tabs. I already tried installing GreaseMonkey and it did absolutely squat to resolve the issue. I have no setting for center click on my touchpad/button settings in my Control Panel.
Please help, I just want to be able to open new tabs with a center click again.

I have this setting in the about:config window:
middlemouse.openNewWindow = true
Middle-clicking works to make links open in a new tab for me. Maybe check that setting.
I just checked- it's already set to that and still not working :(
Note that the middlemouse.openNewWindow pref doesn't have any effect in Firefox, it is a SeaMonkey only pref.
How about this setting?
browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick = true
Also already set to true. I attempted to toggle both settings to false and then true again and it still has no effect.
Does it still work with a Ctrl and left click?
Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
I created a new profile and was still unable to center-click to open new tabs :(
One thing to add- Immediately prior to noticing this issue, I'd had the hard drive in my computer replaced. Since none of the solutions offered here are working, could it be a driver issue?
Maybe update the mouse drivers?
