A few minutes after Firefox 19.02 is started, it starts to consume about 40%-50% of the CPU continuously. deactivating all plugins and addons does not change the situation.

This never happened before even with many tabs open etc.

I do not have a memory problem. the CPU seems to go crazy even while firefox is minimized it consumes 35% of the CPU which is a T9800 2.93Mhz core duo. I do not see any abnormal memory usage/leaking.

Thanks for the info. But the problem I have is stranger than this because the problem persists also if I disable all plugins and addons.

Did you check in Safe Mode?

Well, in safe mode things seem a bit better but still Firefox uses 16%-22% CPU resources when minimized doing nothing. Question is what now? Sorting out addons one by one?

Thing it that Firefox does not shows the problem immediately after restart. It takes 10-20 minutes before it starts to 'eat' my CPU resources...

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
