On some websites when I click to open them, the following happens: 1. FF display completely leaves the screen. 2. Mouse stops working completely. 3. Small blue circle appears in place of mouse. 4. After page is loaded, the blue circle is replaced by the mouse and everything returns to normal.

I am running Norton Internet Security Suite.

Thanks in advance.

It sounds as though a plugin or some other component is taking a long time to initialize. If you leave that website and come right back, does it start up normally?

Is the page doesn't require a login, can you give a URL to a page that has this problem?

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
