i have been trying to upgrade to Firefox Ver 28, but after every restart it still shows version 27.0.1

more options

I had been using Firefox Ver 26 and with every restart of it, there was a prompt to upgrade to version 28. I tried installing the upgrade and even after restart, the older version continued. Therafter, I uninstalled Firefox and installed afresh with Ver 27.0.1 When I check for upgrade, it downloads some 15 mb file but continues with ver 27.0.7 even after restarting. Am I missing something?
