Chess.com shows blue links down the left side of the screen on this PC, using Ffox or IE; all other sites work. On a PC at my job the site is fine. Please help!

On my main PC at home, Chess. com shows just blue text links and minor icons, all shoved to the left side of the screen. All other sites that I tend to visit on this PC are fine.

The blue links on Chess.com do function and take my to places within Chess.com, but those places have the blue text links problem, too.

This problem happens with Firefox and IE on this PC. I don't know what my Firefox version is, or how to find that.

This problem does not happen when I visit Chess.com on my smart phone or on my PC at my job location.

Please help if you can!

Thank you.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Thanks, cor-el, but I tried all the above, except the Default Theme step, I couldn't find it, and still had the issue with Chess.com.

Then I got radical... I totally eradicated Firefox (uninstalled it, deleted every Mozilla folder, removed all registry entries) and reinstalled it from scratch; still same blue links on Chess.com; still all other sites I tried are ok.

Hi Cor-el,

I figured out my problem today.

A Belkin Router setting was blocking Chess.com. Seems that Belkin thinks that something on Chess.com is less than wholesome.

Below is a screen shot of my fix. Thank you so much for getting involved, and I think we can close this case now.
