why can't I select "junk" when I receive a new e-mail. The "junk" icon only comes up for personal e-mails, not spa, e-mails?

when in Thunderbird the "junk" icon is not visible when I receive a spam e-mail, only the not junk icon shows. It only shows up for personal e-mails. How can I "train" Thunderbird what is or is not a junk e-mail?

I have created a "block list" for message filtering, but when I use the directions for filtering additional messages by using the tools menu, there is no + button key in the filter block that adds the new address to the field.

That icon is a toggle, click it to make it junk. The training as good involves marking good messages in your junk folder. It is said it takes about 50 of each to get things on track.

I see plus signs there, don't you have them?
