Hello!

My partner is unable to access the following secure site via Firefox 55.0.3: https://mdlandrec.net/main/

He receives the error message: "Secure Connection Failed. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." (Full error message screen shot attached.)

Meanwhile, I am able to access the site with no problem, using the same version.

The error message suggests I contact the site owners, which is not possible. The site is a state government site and the owners are not responsive. I cannot wait for this problem to resolve itself. Is there any way to bypass this security so that my partner's Firefox can access the site?

Thank you! BenGW

Hi Fred, You said: "There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate. "

I'm not sure how this helps me. Can you clarify?

Thanks, Ben

Instead of getting the certificate from the website, Some protection sends their own. This sometimes causes problems.

Hello Fred,

Turns out security software is not the issue. The problem appears to be that my partner is overseas, in India. (The site is from the state of Maryland in the US.)

I was able to contact the owners of the site. They basically shrugged and said there's nothing they can do: "sometimes" their site "won't work" for people overseas.

'So this brings me back to my original question: is there any way for my partner to disable the security/certificate feature in Firefox that is preventing him from accessing the site?'

Thank you! BenGW

I called for more help.

One thing you can try is to use a proxy service that has the proper location code.

When I get a security warning (Secure Connection Failed) it says to click on "Advanced." That would be nice, but there's no "Advanced" thingy on the screen or anywhere else on which to click. You just get a screen saying that you can't connect, in effect. Many times it is a website from a trusted site and it has worked before.. but not now.

So, just where, oh where, is the "bypass" key, thingy, whatever to which Firefox is referring???

Hi NathanielA

Every case of such a failure to open a specific website can have a different cause and you need to investigate what is wrong. Bypassing such a error is usually not recommended and should only be used as a last resort.

Can you attach a screenshot?

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?
