What type of attachment is it?

Some mailing lists refuse ALL attachments, while some mail servers will filter out digital signatures, winmail.dat, even .zip in some cases.

I usually send .pdf, .stl, .docx, .xlxs etc through my account.

What is the total size of all attachments you try to send in one email ?

Try sending the same email to another account on a different server. Does it work ?

Such attachments are just sent as normal email attachments in Thunderbird, nothing special is needed.

Some email providers refuse email that include too big attachments. Perhaps you can use https://send.firefox.com/ for such special cases. When using this service, test the resulting link in private mode to make sure it is what you expect.
