Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue

Since updating Firefox I can no longer connect to known good sites without getting "Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue".

This includes U.S. government sites! For instance, try connecting to https://covidtests.gov/ .

Why completely block access to the site? Why can't I make exceptions or tell Firefox to accept the risk and continue?

Let me clarify. I understand why you may block connecting to sites that don't comply, but not allowing me to make exceptions for known good sites, like this government site, and others, forces me to use a different browser to do what I need to do. I have zero control over how the site is configured.

I've been a loyal Firefox user since the beginning, having used Netscape prior to that. It's sad that I now have to consider moving off Firefox to some other platform because of these recent changes.

Still doesn't work? They've updated their certificate today.

Nope, I still get rejected by Firefox. Am I supposed to clear cache or cookies or something to get it to work?

update: I cleared my cache and it still doesn't allow me to connect. I'd prefer not to delete cookies unless it's necessary to fix this problem.

I'm not sure. Do you have the Advanced button there? What does it say?

Unfortunately Firefox won't allow cut-n-paste on that page so I'll have to screen shot it piece by piece... sigh.

Someone could be trying to impersonate the site and you should not continue.

Websites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust covidtests.gov because its certificate issuer is unknown, the certificate is self-signed, or the server is not sending the correct intermediate certificates.

OK, it looks like the website is operational, but Norton AV is messing around.

Great. Norton has messed around in other ways too. Now what? Any ideas? Woops, looks like my screen shot answer is now missing. Let me know if you need it back.

I wonder, if Norton is screwing with me on Firefox, why can I access it with Chrome no problem?

Does Norton have an option to turn off spying of secure network traffic (SSL/TLS)?

Oh boy, you got me there. I don't do much with Norton and wouldn't know where to begin looking. I did a quick look at the options when I logged into Norton and didn't see anything.

update: I also have Tor installed though I rarely use it. Could that have something to do with this? MS Edge also has no problem getting to that site.

I had Norton Safe Web enabled in Firefox so I turned it off and no change.

I chuckled when I saw your post but guess what, it worked!

I've always been annoyed by Windows requiring a reboot for the silliest reasons. I come from a DEC background and was used to machines being up for years without needing a reboot (except OS upgrades).

Thank you very much for your time and effort!
