My recommendations for Amazon.com do not show up in their proper panes. What could be causing this?

When i sign on to Amazon.com the recommendations briefly show then disappear and the rating window fails to load properly. This did not happen in the past, so am unsure why it is now. I have allowed the site in my pop-up blocker and ad block is not blocking it, so am at a loss as to why this is happening now. I cannot give the exact URL for the effected page as i did not copy it before coming to this site for help, so i will list the general page.

Example URL The Amazon 'home page' for signed in users has several 'bands' which usually show recommended items. Recently these bands have been blank when the page is viewed using Firefox (3.6.3) but not in IE7.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions. You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Same problem. Win7/ FF 3.6.3. Safe mode did NOT help. Strange ... images appear for a second, then disappear. Works fine in IE8.

I have the same problem.

I am having the same problem. Thought it was the NoScript addon but uninstalling did not fix the issue.

Same problem with Amazon.com, using Windows XP SP3 and Firefox 3.6.7.

I have the same problem, running 64-bit Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6.8.

Workaround is to click the "see all recommendations" link within Amazon. But the banner-like, horizontally scrolling list of Amazon recommendations displays only a blank white frame.

I also have this problem. On the Amazon recommendations page (both .com and .co.uk) the images flash for a fraction of a second then disappear. It started in Firefox 3.6.8 and continues in 3.6.9. I have tried safe mode and disabled all add-ons, all to no effect.

My operating system is Vista Business (32 bit).

The site works perfectly in every browser I have tried (Chrome, Safari, Opera, I.E.8, and both the new and old versions of Flock and more importantly Portable Firefox 4). The inevitable conclusion must be that Firefox 3.6 is broken.

I found a solution to this in mozillaZine at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1918367

Go to:- about:config

search for:- dom.storage.enabled

then set the value to true.

Thank you, christophevanolmen.
