Is that 1/4 porn page on the left? If not, please provide a screenshot so we can see the problem. https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Adding+screenshots http://www.wikihow.com/Take-a-Screenshot-with-the-Snipping-... --- If so, that sounds like it opened in the Sidebar. Any chance you have that page in your bookmarks? You can search for it in the "Library" - If it is one of your bookmarks, right-click that bookmark and select Properties, then un-check the box for Open in Sidebar.

Also, check your Homepage setting, in Tools > Options >> General - Homepage - to stop that bookmark from loading as part of your Homepage tabs.

Another possibility is that you picked up some Malware and that is causing that problem (but the Sidebar part stumps me as to how they would pull that off, if it isn't done with a bookmark being opened in the Sidebar).

Install, update, and run these programs in this order. They are all free for personal use, but some have limited functionality in the "free mode" - but those are features you really don't need to find and remove the problem that you have. (Not all programs detect the same Malware.)

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php SuperAntispyware - http://www.superantispyware.com/ AdAware - http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ Spybot Search & Destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

If these don't find it or can't clear it, post in one of these forums for specialized malware removal help: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/index.php http://forum.aumha.org/ http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/ http://bleepingcomputer.com

dear edmeister

thankyou for your answer and your suggestions, i followed yur suggestion regarding bookmarks but i could not see one that showed amateurmovies which was the quarter page that kept showing, but i did find in the bookmarks at the bottom one marked untitled, could this be it because this kept coming up as well, anyway i rightclicked and deleted. i then checked my my homepage settings and it was showing firefox ok but i clicked on use this page and ok. i then clicked on firefox homepage and it came on in full page withouth the porn site, i then went back to the tools and properties and clicked on default and tried homepage again, the home page came up in full again without the porn page. just for your information when i clicked on yahoo mail this was also split , but seems to be cured now, im not sure what i did correct but i though i would let your know what has happened . i will not send screenshot as it is ok now

thanks again for your info

Such a page should show in the History. Easiest to get rid of it is to right-click that history item in the sidebar and use "Forget About This Site". That will remove everything from that site, including bookmarks, cookies, and cache.
