My browser is firefox but a site reports that I am using an old IE browser and I should consider upgrading to Firefox!

Tonight I logged on to channel TV station in Western Australia which answered my query but also displayed a message stating I was using and old version of IE and should consider upgrading to a more robust browser such as Firefox. Always soon after logging on to the net my screen goes white and I have to start the task manager and delete the entry that says IE is displaying a blank page. You tube states I am using an old version of Firefox yet I have downloaded version 3.6

Try resetting your user agent string (identifies the browser version). For details see How to reset the default user agent on Firefox. If a site believes you are using IE, you may need to reset the general.useragent.override preference as shown in that article.
