Why my Sync Key is not being accepted?

I first setup my old computer a Firefox Sync key, it was my first time to receive a Sync key. 3 months and I reformatted my pc because of data loss but my Sync key is stored in my other partitioned drive and when I setup my Firefox Sync, the Sync key is not accepted. How can this be? Is my old sync key expired? Is it changed? I'm not notified in my email. Can I still get my personal info that my Sync key had?
