My question at https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/886521 was unanswered so I am reposting it here.

It won't let me drag windows as suggested at https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Tabbed%20browsing?s=drag+windows&r=0&as=s#w_moving-a-tab-to-a-new-window

The tab just remains in the same window.

Restarting firefox is a solution but it disrupts my gmail chat - the chat windows disappear. Is there a way to fix it without restarting firefox?

You should update to the latest Firefox 7.0.1 version instead of using no longer supported Firefox 5.0 version.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
