How do I set a default dictionary for spell check?

I work in three languages, mostly in English, and I would like my spell check to be set to the default of English. Right now, every time I start Firefox it will spell check in Ukrainian. I have to manually adjust that to English---and that is for every window that I open. It's become rather annoying since I compose emails all day and must constantly switch it to English.

Any advice?

hello dezelina51, you can try to enter about:config into the firefox location bar (confirm the info dialog in case it shows up) & search for the preference named spellchecker.dictionary. then doubleclick this entry & change it to en-US (for american english) or en-GB (for british english) depending on which of the two dictionaries you've installed for the spellchecker.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If you do not keep changes after a restart then see:
