29 update ruined my firefox customizated experience
I'm a loyal firefox user ever since version 3. Now I'm just considering taking my loyalty elsewhere. Another dumb update discarding users, and I'm getting tired of this.
Classic Theme Restorer Add-on instead of helping made it even worse!
Never had that crappy looking Firefox orange button and now, thanks to Classic Theme Restorer, it's there. Had menu bar and navigation bar and buttons side by side, with tabs underneath maximizing navigation screen. Also had back and forward buttons available and now they're gone. Instead I have a HUGE navigation bar I can't even customize to my taste taking out A LOT of pixels useful for navigation!
Seriously, what cretin developer thought it would be a good idea to have firefox looking more like chrome and dump an update on users with such major impact without even a simple prompt asking before?
If firefox loses its loyal users like myself, he's deserving it.

I agree. Why can't we be offered new features, which we can use, or not, according to our own unique needs and preferences, instead of having them forced upon us?
Wise choice of words. That's exactly what's happening, they force us to abandon what made firefox unique in the first place, and use whatever they throw at us. Well, I already have Microsoft for that, and I'm only forced to accept it because of my limited options in licensed SW I use.
Over 5000 bad reviews yesterday on feedback page! I just hope they open their eyes wide and quickly undo this mess.
I hear you man. I've moved over to waterfox, it's built on firefox but isn't changing the interface.
Where's these bad reviews btw? I've got a few words I'd like to add ;)
Go ahead and don't be shy. ;)
Wow, that's quite the line graph!
"I don't understand software developer's need to 'unify user experience'. What works on a small screen doesn't work on a desktop. And why, when your program is famous for it's customizability, do you take that away? Most people don't want to have to download and configure add ons or spend hours reading forums just to get back what they have had for years and works for them. I am at a loss as to why devs chase this mythical UI experience, what you had was good, functional and fast, be happy with that. Let the competition do what they do and walk your own path.
I don't use firefox on mobile because it still can't reflow text properly btw."
momo I have a question for you. Will I be able to use mozbackup to recover my previous firefox settings into waterfox?
Thanks.
Because waterfox is built on firefox I simply installed WF, opened it and everything was as I left it in version 28 (I didn't mess around with v29 though).
The only other thing is to make sure you've got a 64 bit os, there might be a 32 bit version but again it's not something I checked.
Oh yeah!! waterfox worked like a charm! Only drawback from FF28 is header title taking space, in FF28 i had it blank so menu and navigation bar even higher close to min,max and close buttons.
Seriously, how could firefox developers even compare this beauty to the piece of crap they produced? Jesus!
Glad it helped ;)
I find waterfox a bit quicker too which is nice.
momo, did you uninstalled firefox or just let it sit? I'm having icon conflicts in quick launch taskbar, water icon is not displayed correctly and fire disappeared, minor stuff, but I'm afraid to lose my settings if I uninstall fire to try to fix it..
Thanks.
