I am using Sony Xperia Z tablet and Firefox for Android. On a 10" screen I prefer to see the desktop version of websites (always hated the web version, even on a small phone screen). I set preference to desktop by ticking the box in menu > request desktop. But firefox always unticks this box whenever the page is refreshed, a new page is opened, a new tab is opened, or a new session begins. When shopping on eBay, for example, I tick the box, sign in on the desktop page, get sent to the mobile version, click the box, refresh, return to the mobile version, manually enter the url for ebay desktop, get mobile version. This happens on every website. I might request desktop but I get forced to the mobile site every time. Drives me crazy! I need to set defaults using about:config. Can anyone tell me what the protocol is for setting the default AND ensuring it is remembered everytime I use firefox.

As a general interest question anyone know what is causing this? Whatever it is, it is not affecting my other customisations. For example, I deleted all the supplied search engines and only use StartPage and DuckDuckGo. And I added the ghostery and bluhell add-ons which are also working okay. Thanks for your help.
