Firefox at latest level 38.0.5 and "Shockwave Flash" at 17.0.0.188...have reinstalled flash so many times now, it's so frustrating. Have also disabled protected mode AND unchecked hardware accelleration, but still have same inssue after re-starting Windows 7 PC 64 bit. Thanks for any suggestions of what to try next..... maybe use adobe flash uninstall utility and instructions https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/.../uninstall-flash-player-windows.html and then try another fresh install after shutdown and reboot ? I did an uninstall , but unfortunately still had same issue after shutdown/restart. I then followed this from Adobe and it seems to have sorted the problem I was having....https://forums.adobe.com/thread/987370. I hope this helps others too.

  1. Is your antivirus blocking the install of this program? Check the Norton preferences.
  2. Did you restart Firefox after closing it during the install?
  3. After you downloaded and completed the install did you close Firefox and click continue or finish in the Adobe install dialogue? (This one gets me, if you click confirm, the download stops itself)
  4. Did you use the Adobe uninstaller to uninstall any corrupt installs?
