Dear Firefox Dev,

I have installed an older version of Firefox for testing purposes while i was also having the newest version on another harddrive. The problem is, that i made a backup of my profile, despite this i am still not able to recover bookmarks.

Always make sure to use the Profile Manager to crate a new profile and never use the same profile for multiple Firefox versions.

Did you check the backups in the bookmarkbackups folder?

  • Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup

Do you have any JSON backups that have bookmarks in them according to the item count is the name?

  • bookmarks-YYYY-MM-DD_<item count>_<hash>.json

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

i have 2 boomark files, i guess somehow they got overwritten so i am pretty sure all the data is wiped. I'm not sure if you can help me further with this problem.

If you do not have any backups to restore then you can consider your bookmarks lost.

You can try to restore a previous version of places.sqlite file.
