Incorrect addr for reply to msg in local sent folder
When saving to the IMAP server's sent folder, it took a while, and I'd often get a message asking me to retry saving it. So I switched to saving to the local sent folder. But...
When I replied to a message in the IMAP sent folder, the return address was (correctly) the party I had originally sent the message to, and the follow-up message was (presumably) part of the same thread.
In the Local Sent folder, however, a "reply" goes to me. And there is no reply all option. So I need to copy the original email--and I suspect that the message I send starts a new thread, rather than continuing the old one.

You are the sender in a reply. You could Edit as new message.
Thanks for giving it some thought. But...
- The behavior is different from the IMAP sent folder, which is inconsistent. (I think the IMAP behavior is correct.)
- I don't see an Edit as new message option anywhere.
- I can always forward it, but in either case it necessarily creates a new thread, rather than continuing the old one. (I am "king of the afterthought". I almost always have a follow-up note. Or two.)
My current workaround is to go back to using the IMAP sent folder. I can live with the delay and the occasional error dialog in exchange for the functionality it offers.
We could debate about who's the sender in a reply. I noticed the difference you pointed out. But I wonder why you don't have the options I have. Edit as a new message gives me what you ask for. On a right-click on message in sent:
Ah. My mistake. The option is there in the right-click menu. But again, as a new message, it has to be a new thread.
One thing I discovered by accident that I love is selecting a passage and then hitting reply. Only the selection is quoted in the reply! Very nice.
And of course, I am always the "sender" of a message I sent. It's just that it's a pretty useless piece of information. There may be rare occasions where I need to reply to myself--and no one else. But it's not the 99.9% case. So "Reply" was nicely redefined to do something useful for an message stored in an IMAP sent-folder.
Please try it out and tell me what worked and what didn't.
I get the same result whether I use IMAPs-sent and reply or Local-sent and "edit as new".
Well, yes. "Edit as New" works the same from either folder. But that still leaves a Reply button that is essentially useless in the Local Sent folder, and the inconsistent behavior.
I consider Edit as New to be a work around. The better work around for me was to switch back to the IMAP Sent folder. Can't the inconsistency and reduced functionality be regarded as bug?
I'm a user like you so I have no say in whats a bug.
Inbox or any folder including sent (probably) use the same function when replying, making from-addresses being the to-addresses.
Why IMAP behave so inconsistent I cant understand.
