Thunderbird 45.1.0

I have three accounts on this one profile. All use the same ISP and the same e-mail server. I have about 20 different accounts on this e-mail server with many different profiles.

I have one account that gets a lot of e-mail. So I decided to delete everything in the inbox. 2000 messages. Then it stopped receiving any more e-mail. Okay. I deleted the account, created it again and it downloaded 2300 messages. So I thought well maybe it's not telling the server to delete. So I deleted 500 messages at a time, checked for messages each time. And finally deleted them all.

Next time I open the box no messages. I keep checking all day there's no messages. I go into webmail that my domain company provides and there's messages. So I delete the account again. Created again, and it downloads 2300 messages. I don't know what the problem is. I will try leaving a few messages in the inbox, and see if it will retrieve some messages.

Any ideas what is causing this? I compacted the files and the install is only about six months old. That's probably why there's only 2300 messages. The old e-mail client told the server to delete them. For some reason they're staying on the server.

right click the account in the folder pane and select settings. is the account IMAP or POP? In server settings, what retention policy is set?

It is set to pop. All of my email accounts are pop.

The server is set to no spam filtering. That and password are my only options. I assume it keeps them until deleted.

It seems to be working if I leave a few messages in the inbox, To add more information, I have several profiles. Each one has about three or four accounts. Some of those other profiles, I often delete all of the messages in the inbox of account with no trouble.

Also, I would like to use separate locations for these profiles. But I have found over the year that Thunderbird does not like this. So I just use the default location it suggests.

This profile I'm having trouble with has three e-mail accounts. All three use the standard default storage locations. All three have the exact same server settings. Although I have changed one box on the problem account. I unchecked the box that said check every so many minutes. it would get caught in a loop if I Left it checked. I never keep these e-mails open so it's no problem to check when the first starts.

Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings

Please confirm you have the following selected: select: 'Leave messages on server' select: 'Until I delete them'

Ensure these are selected in all three pop mail accounts. click on 'OK'

Did you delete emails and then compact the Inbox folder - in that order?
