This has to do with windows theme I'ma poke around and try to figure out exactly what you need to change

Go to the start menu and search for "change window color and metrics" there is an item called Selected items in the dropbox, change the color to the grey that matches the unselected items grey (search box unclicked)

Windows 7. For windows 10:


   Right-click on Desktop and choose Personalize.
   Click the Windows Color icon at the bottom of the screen.
   Clikc the Advanced appearance settings… link.

Alternatively you can press windows+R, and enter "desk.cpl ,5note" there is a space between desk.cpl and ,5note
