Chosen solution

Please try a Firefox Refresh. That will (if all goes well) save your bookmarks and any saved logins, but clear your settings and add-ons. Here's how:

If any Firefox windows are open, close them.

Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click "Refresh" and then acknowledge the changes that will occur.

After the process completes -- please be patient and don't interrupt it -- when you start Firefox, you hopefully will be free of whatever issues were affecting your earlier profile.

Note: Firefox may ask whether you want to approve some extensions it discovered in shared folders. I would decline them all for now, you can always enable them later once you confirm things are stable again.

Making progress?

Note: a Refresh should move your entire old Firefox profile folder to the desktop inside a folder named Old Firefox Data. Please keep that for possible use for at least a week since you may not notice right away if something important is missing.
