I know I can't be the only one.

I am a dedicated Firefox user, on a Mac on Sierra 10.12.6

On Sunday night, September 29, my Xmarks were fine.

Today, the Xmarks icon on my toolbar is greyed out and nothing syncs.

It seems that the FF update messed up the Xmarks extension, Others in various forums are also complaining about this problem.

Can anybody suggest something aside from installing the beta Xmarks "4.5.0.1a" update? I did it twice and it does not sync for me.

Also, like many others here, I am getting many a "Well, this is embarrassing" although I haven't had more than 6 tabs open.

The "Well, this is embarrassing" screen is displayed when Firefox perceives that it crashed but wasn't able to restore the previous session automatically at startup. I think on the Windows side, CCleaner is causing that problem. If you have any kind of "cleaning" software that touches Firefox settings, try setting it not to do that for the time being.

Regarding Xmarks, the only thing I see on their forum was to try the Beta version, which has mixed results for different users:

Hopefully there will be more news soon?

Thanks but, after fooling around for HOURS -- all day actually -- and installing the beta version twice, I capitulated and downloaded Chrome. That's a killer for me as I am a longtime FF supporter.

FF was hanging every time I tried (fruitlessly) to sync. Then i got the "embarrassing" message so I suspect there is a connection.

I was able to download my bookmarks at lightening speed onto Chrome -- and I have over 40,000. There are folders within folders within folders. This speed was stunning to me. The Xmarks guys always considered my bookmarks unwieldy but, over the years, they have "borrowed" them to improve their product.

Anyway I don't care for how the Chrome bookmarks sidebar extension works but it at least gives me the opportunity to save my bookmark changes in my Xmarks account (which I just did) until FF and Xmarks get on the same page and determine who screwed up where.

Incidentally, I have always received amazing Xmarks support but today I could tell something was up. Although I received two messages, they could tell me nothing more than to use the beta version which did not work for me.

Panic at LastPass I suspect. Who knows?

I will continue to use Firefox for my work but I will copy and paste the bookmarks into Chrome and sync them with the Xmarks server there.

Thanks again!!!
