How do I "freeze" the screen zoom size to 80%? I tried deleting the xulstore.json file and it still goes to 100% (too big). I also tried the add on No Squint and that worked for a while and now does not.

Hi  !

Would you give this a try :

Type in the address bar about:config (press Enter) (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar and look fot the preference :

layout.css.devPixelsPerPx

You can set the value to 1.0 (default is -1) Adjust its value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps (1.1 or 0.9) until icons or text looks right. Modifying 'layout.css.devPixelsPerPx' affects user interface and web pages (global zoom).

Remember to close and restart Firefox after you've changed the value.

You could also consider this Webextension :

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/zoom-page-we/

Another thing you could try in about:config :

Type in the search bar :

zoom.maxPercent and zoom.minPercent

And set the value to 80%

(then close and restart Firefox)

Well just did the first solution and while the toolbar is smaller (it's acceptable) the screen display size looks about right (at 1.0). I might play around with it, but it's better than having JUMBO SIZED EVERYTHING jumping out at me. Being older, you'd think I'd like the JUMBO EVERYTHING (eye-sight-wise), but JUMBO EVERYTHING is (for me) very annoying.

Let's keep this open for a couple days and I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again!

Hello Happy122...between the 2 solutions you offered, I think I'm in a better position than I was before (it was like watching a 55" TV at 3FT away). That being the case, I've marked the issue as solved.

Thanks again for your help. It IS APPRECIATED. Have a great day.

Tom

You're very welcome, Tom - I'm glad that things are easier on your eyes now. I haven't clue which of the two suggestions worked for you, but as long as you're happy - I'm happy (pun intended). You have a great day as well  !

I'm actually using a combination of the 2....fine tuning it.
