Firefox auto-updated from 56 to 57 even though I configured it to not do that.

I had turned off auto-update in preferences, but FF automatically updated (from 56 to 57) in spite of the setting. This is not very nice; I didn't want it to do that. If you're going to ignore the auto-update preference, then there shouldn't be a no-auto-update option.

Force updated as running a insecure and unsupported browser. Support Volunteers can't make changes to Firefox nor have controll of anything.

Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 and below is no longer safe to use for every day use do to secuity issues, but 52.5.2 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.
