Yesterday, when I asked Thunderbird to get messages, I received the following error message: The current operation on "inbox" did not succeed. The mail server for my "email address" responded: [CLIENTBUG] SELECT Command is not valid in this state. All of my old emails and folders are missing. I cannot send or receive email messages. I contacted Yahoo and they confirmed that my Yahoo email account is working just fine. The problem seems to be Thunderbird. My server setting is for imap.mail.yahoo.com. I saw the answers to this error message for Windows based computers. They do not work for the Apple OS. I'm using OS 10.7.5 and Thunderbird 45.8.0. Can anyone help??????

You did well. I have been trying to contact Yahoo and get an answer to a lot of questions for years now. All I get are automated replies that are only notable for their incompleteness and confusing nature. One day I might get a human, but I am not holding my breath.

I also googled the issue and saw that some folk in yahoo forums reported changing the user name from email@yahoo.com to just email in account settings worked for them. Others suggested that the Yahoo Account Key had to be turned off. Both of these things are logical. If Yahoo are changing how usernames are entered for pop mail and the account key sounds like a very likely culprit for breaking things other that web site pages, especially as one must have a yahoo "app" on a mobile device to activate it.

I could not read a reply from yahoo to their support threads as there were as usual none.

Matt,

Thank you for your reply.

I am using imap as the server type for my Thunderbird email. And, my user name is my judy@campiononline.com email address. I don't know how I can change these setups to accommodate any of the suggestions listed in your message. I am using the Mac OS.

I appreciate your input.

You mention...All of my old emails and folders are missing. Right click on 'imap mail account' in folder pane and select 'Subscribe' You need to select all the required folders and click on 'Subscribe' click on OK

Did this get the folders back ?
