My old hard drive melted and I have to start over with a new computer. How do I get my old Firefox bookmarks back.

The hard drive on my old computer melted and I am starting over with a new computer. When I downloaded Chrome onto the new computer all my old bookmarks were there. Unfortunately I don't use Chrome much, the bookmarks I really need are on Firefox but when I downloaded it I couldn'f find a way to bring back my bookmarks.

Hi Donna-Lynn, your Firefox bookmarks are stored locally.

Did you ever set up the Firefox "Sync" service to copy your bookmarks from one installation of Firefox to another? If so, you might be able to get your bookmarks by connecting your new installation of Firefox to the same Firefox account you used before.

Otherwise... do you have any backups of your old computer data?

You can open the Bookmarks Manager in Google Chrome (icon with the three bars > Bookmarks > Bookmarks Manager) and select "Organize > Export Bookmarks to HTML File" This will export the Chrome bookmarks to a bookmarks.html file. You can import in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager (Library).

  • Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML
