Windows 7 Pro SP1 32-bit: Firefox browser is missing the horizontal (bottom) scroll bar after the last Firefox update to ver. 59.0.2, 32-bit. The vertical (right-hand side) scrollbar is present. Corrections tried: the refresh utility - no improvement; uninstalling and reinstalling from a fresh download - no improvement. The bottom scrollbar still does not show, causing the inability to view complete web pages.

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

browser is missing the horizontal (bottom) scroll bar

Are you saying the bottom of the browser window is missing? Or just the scrollbar?

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/changes-toolbars-and-window-sizes-are-not-saved You may have corrupt xulstore.json or Localstore.rdf file.

Close Firefox. Open your file browser to this hidden location:

  • Mac: *~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles
  • Linux: *~/.mozilla/firefox/Profiles
  • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
  • *C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data
    \Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

Search for the above files. Then rename or delete them. Restart Firefox.
