I entered the profile manager by "runing thunderbird.exe -p" and accidentally deleted my default profile. Now I cannot start thunderbird because it does not find a profile. I have looked in the profile folder, and the folder with my default profile is not there. In the recycle bin I do not find anything related to my profile. Help, please!!

No way to get it back unless you can restore from one of your periodic backups.

Thank you Wayne. One more question: Could I restore my profile if I undelete the files in the "profile" directory using a program for hard drive file recovery?

more options

Quite possibly.

If your accounts are all imap, then you could just recreate the accounts in Thunderbird and you will have only lost contacts and filters.

I see. What if my account was POP3?. Also, would there be a way to recover the emails or the email texts from a file if I recover the deleted files?

Q1: If all your mail is still on the pop server (perhaps unlikely) then you are safe.

Q2: yes
