I cannot re create an existing email address, works directly on Google Mail and was working in Mozilla Thunderbird now I get the message config or username / password incorret I am using the same password have deleted the account and am trying to re add but gives me the same message, my other google addresses are working ?

Try 'Configure manually', and make sure to select 'OAuth2' as 'Authentication method' for both, incoming server (IMAP), and outgoing server (SMTP). Use your main Google account password when setting up the account, and not any app passwords you may have created.
