I have turned on preferences General -> Startup -> Restore previous session AND Warn you when quitting the browser. Firefox does neither of these. My session never gets restored, my pins are never saved and it never warns me when I quit.

Firefox for linux 86.0 (64-bit)

All the troubleshooting examples I find on these support pages are for much older versions of Firefox and 3-4 years old.

Does your Firefox remember history normally, or are you losing history as well?

When Firefox does not restore your pinned tabs, is it possible to restore them manually as follows:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Restore Previous Session
  • (menu bar) History > Restore Previous Session

If they are missing or grayed, check either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Library > History > Recently Closed Windows
  • "Library" toolbar button > History > Recently Closed Windows
  • (menu bar) History > Recently Closed Windows

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.

This was the issue/confusion. I have it set to clear history on quit. I turned that off and its working now as expected. Thank you.
