Firefox 8.6.0 upgrade disables Firefox browser I utilized "System Restore" through the process of elimination I determined that it is the 8.6.0 upgrade that is causing the problem. So, turned off the automatic upgrade option and installed any Windows 8.1 upgrades and my Firefox is working great. Now I have a "nag" screen that is constantly trying to upgrade Firefox browser might there be some way to disable this upgrade notice?

To explain further: once this 8.6.0 upgrade is installed in my computer Firefox is dead! You cannot click on an icon or go to the directory and execute an .exe file... Firefox is D.O.A. So, I used restore command to reset my computer back before the problem started. I thought that it was a Windows problem I ended up having to do the system restore twice It was a Firefox problem w/8.6.0. upgrade I am utilizing Windows 8.1 I don't care for windows 10 at all. Don't know how much more detail I can go into, that's it...

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Note that the current release is Firefox 87.0

Note that using Windows System Restore isn't recommended as this can lead to data loss of personal data in the profile folder because this doesn't only affects the Firefox installation, but affects all changes made after that restore point.

All my system upgrades had been reinstalled when I reinstalled current upgrades for Firefox I once again lost my Firefox browser. Then again I utilized restore system to restore files and disabled Firefox automatic upgrades, system files are fully upgraded every thing is working fine... There is only one conclusion I can make and that is that the Firefox 8.6.0 upgrade. Now back to my question, how can I disable the Firefox upgrade "nag screen?"

You fail to understand the problem. It is NOT that I cannot access the internet. The problem is that after installing version 8.6.0 upgrade the program is DOA, I can not even go into the Firefox directory and fire up the .exe file. I have the problem taken care of for the time being. What I need is a way shut the "nag" screen that keeps wanting to upgrade to 8.6.0. I hope this clears things up. Thank you for your consideration in this matter. DJ
