Attachments - what should thunderbird do with this file? - version 91.2.1 64 bit Win 10

While I have MS Word, Excel, etc...all set as defaults to open attachments in Mozilla, each time an attachment is double clicked to open...I am still prompted with "what should thunderbird do with this file?" This also happens with photos (jpeg) ...However, PDF's seem to open ok.
