Thunderbird 102.1.2 stopped working with Earthlink POP
I've been using Thunderbird since the first version was released. With the very latest update to 102.1.2, it stopped working with my Earthlink POP account. I get this error when trying to download new mail:
"the server does not support the selected authentication method"
Nothing has changed with my Earthlink settings. The problem started right after the latest patch was applied last week. In fact, I have a second computer with Thunderbird 102 that has not installed the latest patch yet, and Earthlink POP still works it.

This is same problem i have with updating to 102.2 from a much earlier release.
I have email connection on my iphone but not on this computer!!
The server does not support the selected authentication method. Please change the 'Authentication method' in the 'Account Settings | Server settings'.
Server Name: pop.earthlink.net Port: 110 Connection Security: None Authentication Method: Encrypted Password
After a lengthy call with Earthlink support, I got it to work. The solution is not the one that Earthlink has on their website: Open Thunderbird. Click on Tools. Click on Account Settings. You will see your email address listed in it. Click on Server Settings. Incoming server should be pop.********.*** Incoming Port will be 110. Username will be your complete EarthLink email address. Connection security/SSL will be None. Authentication will be Password submitted insecurely. Click on Outgoing server (SMTP) server. Highlight your email profile on the right side and click on Edit. Server name should be smtpauth.earthlink.net Type 587 in the Port: box. Connection Security should be set to None. Authentication Method should be set to Password submitted insecurely. User name should be your complete EarthLink email address. Click on OK > Click on OK again. Then, send a test email to yourself and check if you receive it.
Hope this helps!
