When I enter a site I am unable to navigate around the site. If I try to move the cursor or scroll the site. My screen goes dim and I get a message "Firefox is Not Responding". I have to manually close the browser with the task manager. I can switch browser to IE and visit the same site(s) with no problem at all. I can provide the sites url, but it would not help because it requires a password to enter since it is a paid membership site.

Hello Wayne.

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode and select Disable all add-ons. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.

If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

I have Windows 7 and am new to it. I can not locate a Start Search box. I have a Search box at the bottom of the programs list, but this only searches for files in my system. Also I do not have anything (folder) relating to "safe mode" in the Mozilla/Firefox program folder.

Wayne, the Start Search box is that search box at the bottom of the programs list. If you want to run a command or a program, you can simply press WINDOWS+R on your keyboard.

In the link I gave you [ http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode ], you can learn how to make a safe-mode shortcut yourself. If you don't have a start menu entry for Mozilla Firefox/Mozilla Firefox (safe mode), then you can simply create one, either on your start menu, or elsewhere in your computer.
