I have a CUPS print server for or corporate campus with several hundred print queues. The users would prefer to restrict the list of printers shown in the print dialog to the few that are in their vicinity. Is this possible to do?

I've found that the older Mozilla brower could do this via an environment variable MOZILLA_POSTSCRIPT_PRINTER_LIST. Firefox doesn't. Is there an equivalent variable for Firefox, I wonder?

There is still support for that environment variable in the Gecko 1.9.2 branch and 2.0 trunk.
You may need to enable some prefs.
