I get this when I try to load just a few websites. It also shows up in place of boilerplate copy on some websites that I can open up.

When I open AOL mail in Firefox, I get these question marks where copy should be. I also get it when I try to login in to a website. I didn't have this problem initially after I downloaded Firefox, but now, on only a few sites, I get these question marks. I've tried the suggestions offered on the help menu, but these still exist.

Did you make changes to the default Font and Encoding settings (Western ISO-8859-1)?

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced

You can try a few different encoding settings via "View > Character Encoding".
