When data is imported from IE 9 to Firefox 4 it shows in the bookmarks tab but on closing Firefox and then reopening the imported data is not there. Have followed instructions about deleting the places.sqlite file and then opening Firefox and importing data again from IE but still same results.

Do you see the imported bookmarks immediately after you have imported them?

Did you try to delete places.sqlite first and then start and close Firefox first and start Firefox another time before trying to import the IE favorites?

If you have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

  • Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
  • Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File
