I deleted a stored password, but would like to add it back to my saved passwords. How do I do this?

I deleted a password I had saved in my FF passwords, but I want to add it back to the saved list. I don't need to recover any of the login info--I just want to restore the auto-fill feature for that page. When I log in now, the usual "do you want to save password" box doesn't appear.

You can visit that website and login.
Then Firefox should offer once again to store that password.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

Also check the password exceptions.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Security: Passwords: Exceptions
